A few months ago a tool was released that can record Live interactions of people maneuvering through your site. This tool tracks and logs data entry and mouse clicks and you can replay their session as many time as you want.

The sole purpose for these guys to create this Clicks Plugin was to allow the webmaster to increase his or her conversion rate if they are trying to sale stuff. On the other hand, one could find this tool useful in seeing how someone was able to deface your website and replace it with “Hacked by Chinese” with just a few minor tweaks.

So many talk about privacy this and privacy that, but tools like this or any other visitor tracking methods is what all webmasters should have access to in order to analyze how ones site is being used. I’m just sayin!

Web analytics, which records visitor requests and shows you what visitors were doing, is just one technology that one could used to help increase your sites profitability or to track down problems. Other technologies such as Web Interaction Analytics (WIA) can be used to show how your visitors interacted with various web pages and forms. So if you have a page that has a number of input fields that you want your visitors to use in order to sign up for something. Tracking that user experience could be vital to your business.

Like the WPClicks Plugin mentioned above, one could use other programs like ClickTale or CS SessionReplay but these cost more but are a lot more robust. All in All there are tools out there that if used for the right reason could be of a benefit to the owner of the website. However, ones privacy may be in question but depending on how you view it. You give up your privacy to the webmaster if you fill in and submit any data on their website.
